Some Senators are slamming us again. We need IMMEDIATE calls and emails to every WA state senator ? including yours! After several senators wrote a responsible "substitute/striker" supporting online learning in ESHB 2065, some  other senators are now adding language that would cut all ALE programs 15% for the next two years. That would shut down many high-quality online public school programs, perhaps including yours.

Please get on the phone right now (before 4:30 Mon) or the minute the hotline operators begin taking messages tomorrow morning at 8:00 am. They take an hour lunch break at noon.

The phone # is: 1-800-562-6000.
Give your name and address so they can deliver your brief, positive message.

Please vote "NO" on ESHB 2065 unless it is amended to remove the 15% cut to my child's basic education. As my elected senator, do you understand that the proposed cut is to my child's most BASIC EDUCATION funding? The fiscal note shows a student in an online public school program receives an average of $5,000/year. A student in a traditional classroom receives an average $10,000/year of from the state, local levies and federal funds. Why are you even considering taking an additional 15% cut for these students who are already enrolled in a state-approved K-12 program?

Our school district sponsored, state-approved, highly accountable, student-centered online programs can easily be restored to 1.0 FTE with just $7 million of the fiscal note savings created by other recommended changes to ALE (Alternative Learning Experience) programs.

Please don't shut the door to my child's high-quality online school on your watch. Thank you
