Action Alert - Have your voice heard on SB 5410

Dear Friends and Families of Online Learning in Washington:

Last week we wrote to tell you about a bill in front of the Washington State Senate's Education Committee that will close down the school our children attend -- SB 5410. Even though many of us showed up to  demonstrate our opposition to this bill, it appears the Senate Committee will move forward with this bill unless they hear from you.

SB 5410 as it’s currently written will:

o Close online programs that are instrumental in our curriculum
o Limit parents' ability to choose the best programs for their children
o Put an unelected bureaucracy with no accountability in charge of on-line education in our state (instead of school boards and parents!)
o Create a "one-size fits all" approach to online education that will stifle creativity and impede quality improvements.

What can you do to help?

1) Go to our web site and click on our Action Center to write an email to the Senate Education Committee encouraging them to vote against SB 5410 and keep on-line learning available to your family.

2) When you are at our web site , be sure to sign up to become a member of our new coalition. We will be able to keep you informed as we fight this legislation and on other issues that are important to you.

3) Send this email to family and friends who you know are interested in protecting on-line education in Washington State and encourage them to also sign up to become part of our coalition.  This may include members of your extended family or friends you know who are interested in on-line education.

We cannot stress to you enough the need for your involvement TODAY!  Without your help, we could lose on-line education for our families!

Regards,
