Nominate your favorite teacher today!
"So many students across the country have great teachers, but often these teachers aren't recognized for their dedication and great work," said Lori Cooney, president of the National Coalition for Public School Options. "We're excited to once again highlight these teachers and their outstanding work."
Check out last year's finalists!
Last year's winner, Jane Ferris, is known for reenactments of historical events, she is recognized by the student who nominated her for the ability to "make history come alive." In a recent unit on the Great Depression, she fed her students an authentic 1930s soup kitchen lunch, and during a study of WWI, she created a "war zone" in her classroom to show how dangerous trench warfare really was.
Is there something your child's teacher is doing that is special to you?
Students, families, administrators, and fellow teachers are encouraged to nominate outstanding educators. Remember, nominations end in just two weeks, April 12th. Please take a few minutes to think about what is special about your child's teacher, then email it to NCPSO www.publicschooloptions.org/americanpioneer .
Those of us in WA Families for Online Learning would also like to hear your story about your awesome teacher, if, after you've sent it to NCPSO, you'd email us a copy to us at info@waonlinefamilies.org . There will only be one national winner. Our state coalition could let every teacher know that one of their students, families or fellow teachers took time to recognize something special about them. What a wonderful gift that could be.
Thanks in advance for thoughtfully considering sending special recognition to your special teacher.
