Legislature in Holding Pattern
The Washington State Legislature is back in Olympia for a second week of "Special session" after the House, Senate and Governor were not able to reach agreement on the state budget for July 1, 2010 thru June 30, 2011.
The governor reported Monday that the leadership of the Senate and the House are "getting closer" to an agreement on the budget, yet they "are not close" on the revenue bill (that's the new taxes and fees). She said it is all "painfully slow".
It is agonizing to watch... and our coalition leaders and friends in Olympia are still vigilant. It will be such a relief to know all your calls, emails and letters effectively preserved all the wonderful online public school programs around the state!
Continuing thanks for everyone who contributed to our "Scrapbook of Student Stories". We've found sponsors to get it published. It's awesome. We'll be brainstorming other ways of preserving and expanding access to impressive, innovative, individualized online public school programs. Your ideas are welcome at info@waonlinefamilies.org .
