It's Time to Say Thanks!

Now that House Ways & Means Committee has restored full funding to our online public school programs, we strongly encourage everyone to send short emails or make quick calls to each legislator listed below.  I've listed six leading legislators on the committee, four others directly engaged in this work and the remaining twelve members who voted to support the restoration of the funding. Please check to see if one of YOUR legislators is on the list. Your call or email to them would be especially powerful.

Our message is simple: Thank you for your support and understanding of the importance of online public school programs. This isn't the time to tell them all about the value of your child's educational choice. A one sentence statement of support is best so they can move on with all the other issues they are working on now.

While we are no longer threatened in this year's state budget, our friends working in Olympia will remain vigilant until the final budget is passed and the legislature adjourns, scheduled for March 11.  Some families have asked for short daily updates until then. We'll do that.

This was a wake-up call for our new grassroots organization. It also made it clear we need to continue to strengthen our coalition to assure that our voices are heard and our choices for our children's education are protected. Without you, we may have lost this fight and our children would have been forced out of their online public schools!

We still need you to email us your own story about how your online public school program fits your child's needs.  If you've sent in yours, please tell a friend how easy it is  and encourage them to join us. Together we can send a compelling message to legislators now and into the future. Here's the special link: http://waonlinefamilies.org/stories/

Continuing congratulations and thanks for such a resounding success!
