Your Voice is Coming Alive in Olympia...
THANK YOU to hundreds of our coalition students, teachers and families who journeyed to the state Capitol to support all our online public school programs. It was a day well spent. Many, many thanks for everyone's effort on the holiday!
Our organization, WA Families for Online Learning sponsored the 4th Annual Online Learning Day. It began at the Hands-On Children's Museum. After orientation, we walked across the Capitol campus past thousands of others rallying for their causes. Our coalition gathered inside the Legislative Bldg, directly under the Capitol Dome. We shared our stories with our legislators when they were able to step away from their debating and voting. We'll post photos of our awards ceremony at http://www.waonlinefamilies.org/ where we presented Superintendent Randy Dorn and four legislators our "Pioneer Educator" award.
If you missed this year's event, please start thinking about how you might make it next year - or help us plan an event with your legislator closer to home!
Now we need help from everyone who came and everyone who couldn't make it. We need to collect and post our/your stories online so our lawmakers and budget writers can quickly learn about why we value online learning. Tell them what is important to you. What's your passion??? We need...
+++ Stories and photos from your day at the Capitol
+++ Stories and photos of your everyday experiences in your online public school program including...An engaging science experiment (with photos and/or videos)
+ A colorful art project (more photos and videos)
+ An interesting field trip (still more media to tell the story)
++ Lots of photos of you with your teacher.
Your statement can be a sentence, a paragraph or a page. In these challenging budget times, it is absolutely vital that leading legislators and budget writers get to know why an online public school program is a good fit for your child!
The stories are trickling in. Can you help make it an avalanche? Stories can be sent to:info@waonlinefamilies.org Stories with attachments are easier to receive at gigi@talcott.org Thanks in advance for taking the time to tell your story!
Thanks again for a great day at the Capitol. Let's pack our website with lively photos of students who are catching up, moving ahead or digging deeper in topics that interest them. Each of you has your own reason for enrolling in an online public school program- it's your story and we want our legislators to know it. Thanks for taking time to share it!
Hope to see you next year at the 5th Annual Online Learning Day at the Capitol!
Thank you for joining us to deliver these important, powerful individual messages!
