You're needed in Olympia, again...

? Is it important to you to keep your online public school program fully funded?

Our elected representatives just returned to our state Capitol.

They're facing massive budget challenges. Hundreds of millions of dollars will be cut.

Education programs won't be exempt.

Most legislators don't know how an online public school works. You do. You are the expert!  To preserve our quality online public school courses and programs, legislators need to hear how your online learning is a good fit for you.

Monday February 15th (President's Day)

Fourth Annual Online Learning Day at the Capitol

WA Families for Online Learning and WA Coalition for Online Learning encourage you to join us this President's Day for our annual gathering. We're doing something new this year. We've reserved space at the Hands-On Children's Museum to meet and be briefed on the day's events.

"Floor action" scheduled for that day promises to provide us a lively civics lesson with every Senator and State Representative present.  After signing in at the desk of the Children's Museum, we will be briefed on how we can briefly "pull" our own legislators away to share our online learning experiences with them.

Following the briefing at the Children's Museum; students, teachers, families and staff will walk across the Capitol Plaza to the Legislative Bldg under the Capitol Dome. After we've all met with our legislators and they break for lunch, we'll gather on the marble steps for a group photo and short ceremony with greetings from elected officials and presentation of "Pioneer Educator' awards.  That ends our program. Feel free to bring lunch with you or purchase food in the Pritchard Library Cafeteria. The Children's Museum will be open after the event if you want to return to explore it on your own.  Details will be emailed to you.

As soon as you've decided you can support our Fourth Annual Online Learning Day at the Capitol Feb. 15, please go to http://waonlinefamilies.org/rsvp/ to register online. By registering online, we'll make sure to have red lanyards, buttons and info bags waiting for the first 250 participants. Please note which of the briefings at the Children's Museum works best for you: 8:30, 9:00 or 9:30.  While you're registering you may want to check out updates to our website, http://www.waonlinefamilies.org/ . It was launched last year by a few families wanting a way to build a more effective voice for students, teachers and supporters of online learning.  Now it's there for all of us to build on.

Can't make it to Olympia? Still want to help? Are you willing to email your experience with online learning so we can share it with our elected officials?  Just a paragraph or two from you and hundreds of other students, teachers and families would send a powerful message. Please send it today to info@waonlinefamilies.org. Your experience is unique.

Thank you in advance for seeing how you might support this important endeavor! By sharing your story with your elected representatives in Olympia Feb 15th (registering at http://waonlinefamilies.org/rsvp/ or by emailing your online learning experience to  info@waonlinefamilies.org,  your story could be the one that makes the difference!
